You’ve seen the movies glorifying – or horrifying – the heat in a busy restaurant kitchen where temperatures and nerves run on high. But what we dont’ think about is the calm before the dinner service storm. When the chef feeds the team, there’s unity and harmony over a shared meal.

“Our golf course is right up against Colorado National Monument. From the restaurant, we have a full view of the entire monument, the mesa, and the national forest. We see amazing sunsets here and a lot of rainbows,” says Kate Weckerly, restaurant manager at Ocotillo Restaurant and Bar.
Fun Food for February
Bourbon Pairing Menu — Are you ready to experience a five-course meal with specially chosen bourbons paired with it? On Saturday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m., Ocotillo Restaurant & Bar, 2325 W. Ridges Blvd, will be cooking a delicious-looking menu. Ocotillo overlooks the Colorado National Monument and is nestled into the Redlands Mesa Golf Course. They have monthly pairing dinners, and I was fortunate to be their guest recently for an “Asian Fusion” themed dinner. Restaurant manager and events coordinator, Kate Weckerly, guided us through each course, and it was a delightful and yummy evening.
